After weeks of planning and preparation World Book Day finally arrived today and Manchester’s pupils didn’t disappoint.
Thousands of children dressed up as their favourite book characters arrived at schools, nurseries and playgroups – and even the teachers joined in the fun.
From Gruffalos and Grinches to Mary Poppins and Matildas, the list is endless.
We’ve put together some bumper galleries of your wonderful creations.
Schools, nurseries and libraries have been marking the event, which this year celebrates its 20th anniversary.
Lucky tram commuters were also involved as they were handed free books on the Metrolink this morning.
As part of the Read Manchester campaign, every tram on the Manchester network was filled with books for commuters to take home.
Books handed out included titles from the hit children’s authors Jacqueline Wilson and David Walliams.
